Photo Album Links

We are getting lots of requests for photos of Charlotte, and there are far too many to post right here on the page. So what we've decided to do is put photos into online albums for you to browse at your convenience.

In the right column just a little ways down, you will see a new section called "Photo Albums". This space is where we will continue to add links to photo albums of our own and others of interest. This may move around on the page from time to time, but it should always be found somewhere.

Right now, you will find two album links to photos of Charlotte at the hospital, and during her first week at home. Enjoy!

Mount Rushmore: Puzzle

Puzzle of Mount Rushmore

My parents went on a road trip last month and visited Mount Rushmore. They say it was a really interesting experience, and brought us back a souvenir... a puzzle! Natasha and I started on it over the last couple of weeks, and when her Mom came to visit, she quickly finished it off.

I'm hoping to visit this location along with a number of other places in the Eastern USA someday...

Welcome, Charlotte Anne!

Natasha and I are pleased to announce the birth of our baby girl, Charlotte Anne, on Saturday, May 24, 2008 @ 6:31am, weighing 9 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 21 inches in length!!

Our little Charlotte Anne

It's been a difficult couple of days, especially for Natasha, but we all did our parts, and in the end everything worked out great. We haven't had internet access since 2:30am this morning when we went to the hospital for the second time. This time around, things were progressing, but due to lack of space, we were diverted to the Langley hospital where the baby was born quickly... within about an hour of arriving (no time for an epidural!).

Mother and baby are doing well and are scheduled to come home on Monday morning.

The happy family, with new addition

Thanks to everyone for your kind words, advice, and prayers. We appreciate them all.

To The Hospital We Go! (Updated)

Update: May 23, 2008 7:33pm

We're back at home. After going to the hospital and getting checked out, the doctors say Natasha isn't quite ready. If things progress in the next 12 hours, we will go back. Otherwise, she is scheduled to be induced tomorrow morning anyway.

We will update again by tomorrow morning.

May 23, 2008 3:30pm

Natasha's contractions started yesterday afternoon, more intensely early this morning, and we are now on our way to the hospital for delivery. It is 3:30pm and we are hoping the baby will arrive later today.

New baby announcement to follow so check back later!

No Baby Yet, One Week Overdue

Traffic to the blog has doubled in the last week, with over 100 visits each in the last two days. Everyone is anxious for news about our baby, but as of right now, there are no indications that labour will begin soon.

We're just going about things as usual, waiting to see what happens. Natasha's Mom is here now and we're having a lot of fun spending time with her.

Keep checking back! Despite some people's lack of faith in our dedication to the blog, we will do whatever we can to ensure a post goes up when we head to the hospital, and once the baby is born!

Due Date: Today!

Natasha at 40 weeks

That's right! Today is that day everyone anxiously awaits but rarely sees any action on... the baby "due date". I've seen how the doctor came up with the value in about 15 seconds using a little circular chart, and it's no wonder the date is not overly exact. With some clever deduction and calculation, I'm pretty sure I could have estimated the due date within 10 days as well.

But this is not an exact science and we have certainly discovered that as well. Every baby story is different, and we've had our own share of learning experiences thus far.

Generally, Natasha is doing great and is feeling well, but is looking forward to having the baby, I think. We are all ready for the trip to the hospital, just need to hop in the car and head over when the time comes. Of course, we will make every effort to post something on our way out the door to keep everyone informed, and a follow-up post once the baby is born.

Natasha Approaches 39 Weeks

At first, time seemed to be moving along at a regular pace. Later, it seemed like everything was flying by and the baby was nearly here. And now, so close to the arrival, things have slowed to a crawl... to me at least. Each day goes by, no big changes... and yet one way or another, the baby will be born within the next few weeks.

Natasha at 38 and a half weeks

Still doing great! Keep your browsers tuned to this site over the next week or two for updates on when Natasha goes for delivery, and as soon as possible once the baby is born.

Where Cars And Nature Meet

Cars are generally seen as things that don't get along well with nature. On a walk this weekend up on the river bank of the Fraser River, we came across a bunch of old abandoned vehicles on the edge of someone's farm. They'd been totally overrun by plants, moss and trees. These cars have actually become a part of their surroundings...

This was only one of the vehicles. I'm guessing there has to be at least thirty or more years of growth for the tree to have grown up and through the car and be as big as it is. There were other vehicles too, some more than half embedded into the side of a small hill, with only the front or back end visible.

Don't park your car for too long in one place!

Natasha's Surprise Couple's Baby Shower

Last Friday, we threw a surprise couple's baby shower for Natasha over at Shelley's place. The "plan" was to go over for the evening to play some games, but what Natasha discovered quickly was that there was a whole lot more people in the house than she expected!

I was in on the secret, and you can see a great video of the "surprise" right here:

Surprise!

We then proceeded to have a great evening of food, fun, games, and talk about babies. Here are some photos taken from the party, and some descriptions of the evening's activities.

The food was great!

Unfortunately, since Natasha didn't know what was going to happen, we ate supper before coming, but we still sampled all of the food.

The "guess how big Natasha's belly is" game.

I approved of this game the moment I heard about it. Each couple gets the spool of ribbon, and gets to cut off as much as they think will fit around Natasha's belly. The true circumference is measured, and the team with the closest ribbon length wins. In the above photo, Martin and Dianna try to estimate using her slightly less pregnant belly. Maybe it helped, as they won!

Apple Juice Bottle game.

In this game, each couple is given one bottle with apple juice. The goal: between the two of you, which team can drink all of the juice first? Here you see me, not doing very well. I doubt we were anywhere near the winning at the end.

Also seen in this photo are the "Dad to be" and "Mom to be" ribbons we got to wear.

Roseanne and Shelley put together an inedible but highly useful
and very cool looking diaper cake!

The impressive desserts! Trifle, baby cake, and more!

Andrew & Natasha with the baby cake, created by Mom,
decorated by Dad, based on a magazine recipe.

The gifts

We thank everyone who came to our party, and for all the really great gifts. We appreciate your friendship.

Opening the gifts

Overall, a great evening, and lots of fun was had by all.
