Close To Home

If you're from the BC area and keep up with daily local news, you will have seen a story about a young man killed in a road rage attack. As it turns out, it was someone who attended the same church as us. I didn't know him very well, but it is close to home anyway, seeing people you know on the news, being interviewed, and worse, when someone is injured or killed.

You can read about it here and a link to a video here.

Silas O'Brien with niece and nephew

" METRO VANCOUVER - The man killed in a hit-and-run incident in Aldergrove earlier this morning has been identified as 21-year-old Silas O'Brien of Langley.

O'Brien died after he was hit by a white Ford F-250 truck which had earlier forced the vehicle O'Brien had been travelling in off the road and into a ditch at 16th Avenue, near 264th Street in Aldergrove.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. as O'Brien and two friends, Sam Dooley and Luke Stevens, were headed to the Vancouver International Airport to catch an early flight to Hawaii for vacation.

Silas O'Brien, shown with his niece and nephew, was the victim of a fatal road rage attack in Aldergrove early today. According to police, all three young men had scrambled outside of their vehicle after it was forced into ditch by the driver of the white truck.

The truck then returned to the scene, and slammed into the group at a high rate of speed. It then sped away."

Our thoughts are with the family and friends. We have been through a tragic loss not to long ago, and it is all the more troubling because of the suddenness.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the O'Brien family during this time of great loss. May God be their comfort.

The funeral was one like we have never seen. Like it was said... "Silas has touched more lives in his death....than in his life."
