Summer Solstice 2007

Welcome to Summer, everyone! Today is the longest day of the year in terms of sunlight hours. Isn't it interesting that just as summer "begins", the days start to become shorter.

In any case, the sun finally broke through, as it should be this time of year. We've had a lot of clouds and rain, and most people are anxious for a heat wave! We hope to get a little more outdoor activity than last year. And along with our BBQ's, I'd like our tomato plants to grow a little quicker so we can have freshly picked tomatos for salads!

What are your plans for the summer? Your plans, suggestions, comments, or invites to your BBQ party welcome!

Alot of our summer is spent gardening/canning/swimming!

We have been in a heat wave for a long time already, but the kids enjoy swimming alot!

We have been getting all sorts of fresh veggies from the garden already...onions, lettuce, okra, tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapenos, cayenne, cucumbers, green beans (which we've canned almost 200qts so far), & potatoes (we dug half our crop and got 17 5gal. buckets full...beautiful BIG potatoes..some the size of your hand)

Other than the gardening and stuff, we have plans on maybe going to the Zoo one day, and as July 4th approaches, we will be purchasing fireworks, and looking forward to a fun filled day of jet skiing, eating, the kids riding rides at the fair, and shooting off TONS of fireworks!

Have a great summer everyone...Fall will be here in a blink of an eye!
